I got this cute little ditty in an email from my aunt today (whom impresses me how active she is at 80, how many 80 year olds do you know that email?)
Anyway here it is, made me chuckle ...
The Jewelry Store
An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side.
He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.
The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.
The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special."
At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000" the jeweler said.
The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.
The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."
The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, "by check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said.
Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in that account."
"I know," said the old man, "But let me tell you about my weekend!"

Family Updates
Okay so....what's new here...
Got our new windows .... YEAH!!! they are so awesome, i love them. The crew came on Tuesday to put them in, about noon as you all know we got a HUGE storm, luckily all windows were in by the storm, the trim work had to still be done but at least the windows were in. Since the sun came back out in between storms they were able to get all the trim finished that day too.
John has been off all week and has gotten a TON of stuff done around the house. This vacation has been super productive. Today he's going to get the first load of pellets for the year. We are getting them super early this year to save some money later on, because like everything else the price of wood pellets will soar by fall.
Faith is thriving and continues to make us laugh every single day. We are just LOVING this age. Yesterday she had to help Dad while he was trying to put up the new shades. He was standing on the step stool and she climbed up on it with him, and mimicked all his hand movements, it was just too precious. She mimicks EVERYTHING now so we are trying our best to be more careful about words and such that come out of our mouths, i should say mommy is trying and being sure to remind daddy to try LOL. Some new things she's been doing is singing songs, trying to jump over her gate (that's funny to watch, she crouches down low and then jumps up, I really think that she is thinking if she tries hard enough she can make it over that gate, LMAO), she counts objects up to 3 (for example she'll bring you three books and count them to you 1, 2, 3), she also can point in her book to letters and numbers and say them, the letters still don't come out right but she can usually do the numbers to 5. It's so adorable it sounds like "one, two, free, or, ive" LOL. She CONSTANTLY wants to watch MELMO, she will bring you the "mote" and say "melmo". One of her new favorite phrases is "I know" so yesterday as i changed her diaper i said "i have to put some medicine on your rash (thank you hot days)" and she said "i know mom" with all kinds of attitude, she's not even 2 yet and she's throwing out all that attitude.
Well guess that's enough for today. I'm hoping to get some sewing done today for some trades i'm working on. I realized too this week that her birthday is a little over a month away and i have made absolutely no plans as to how to celebrate and what to get her, so uncharacteristic of me.

I miss the flintstones...
Yesterday as i sat listening to Faith's favorite shows, i pondered the changes in programming since i was young. Yup sure we had Sesame street and things like Mr. Rogers that were entertaining and educational, but now it seems every show (that i let her watch) is all got big lessons tied into it, always such good educational lessons. What i wouldn't pay for a good ole Fred & Barney caper, LMAO. And what of the Road Runner, Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam, I mean it used to be Saturday morning watching the Bugs Bunny show was a HUGE deal. I havn't seen it in forever.
Faith likes mostly the disney cartoons for her age group. She adores the Wiggles, OMG sometimes I'd rather go deaf than listen to one more Wiggles song. Or what about good ole reliable Handy Manny? Sometimes i silently wish he give himself a big ole whack with his talking hammer. Oh and who can't relate to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, i often have a problem and think "now if i only had a mousekatool"...i mean don't we all have a baby elephant hanging around waiting for that odd choir that a baby elephant is just good for, as if I don't deal with enough poop around here, i need elepahnt poop, LMAO. Oh and let's not forget those little show off smartypants the Little Einsteins, John just about died laughing one day when i called them the "Little Smartasses".
Well she ought to be up soon, i can hardly wait to see what's on...

Hot enough for ya...
My God it's terrible. I hate heat, I hate humidity. I am just not made for hot weather, i cannot accomplish anything. My mood today has been less than patient and definately bordering on itchy with a Big ole B !

Should i be the "better" person...
Okay i have a dilema. As most of you have probably heard me say before some of my extended family are a bunch of boobs. I might even say some of the border on "trailer park" you know what. Now i know they are family but for the most part i avoid them, have for years, we just have nothing in comman and some of the things they say/do just really bother me. SO.....as Tracey and Gabby can attest i was really upset that none of my mother's side of the family (with the exception of one cousin, whom i adore) bothered to show up to my baby shower, i was beyond crushed. I realize we don't see each other often, but they are family after all and to have every single one of them totally blow it off, really hurt. We are talking like 20ish people. It wasn't about the "gift" though but once my mom told one of her sisters how upset she was that none of them showed up, i started getting all these "late" gifts, like they did kinda feel guilty for blowing it off and sent some little thing to make up for it. But see that's not why i was upset (the gifts), to me showers whether they be bridal (which most of them didn't come to either) or baby are about a celebration, you are celebrating with your family/friend the joyous event that is going to take place, yes you bring a gift but you mostly are there to support and wish them well.
So anyway that's the brief history part of this post, now on to my dilema. My cousin is getting married. Said cousin has 2 children with her ex that is now in jail, lived with him for years in their own home. While he was in jail she meant someone else and is now marrying said "someone else". (get where the above reference is coming from??). Anyway i have not even seen this cousin in YEARS and we don't live far away, just don't see her. Her mother is one of my mom's sisters that couldn't be bothered to show up for my baby shower and has since Faith was born been saying to me "oh i have a gift card for you, i keep forgetting to give it to you" (again could care less about the gift card, it's the point of hurting feelings, duh). The only time i ever see that aunt is when i stop in to her store to eat lunch or something, and we're talking like a few times a year at best and it's normally because my mom is with me and chooses to go there. So yesterday I get an invitation in the mail for her bridal shower. My first reaction was "heck no, i'm not going, no way". But then part of me is now feeling like, maybe i should be the "better" person in all this and go?? Should i continue to be bitter and not bother, should i go and take a gift (all the time knowing full well that's probably the only reason i was invited). Please share your thoughts.

So disgusted...
Mother pleads guilty to killing newborn by negligence
I am DISGUSTED beyond belief about this entire story. From the beginning it made me sick to even think about the irresponsibility this college student had in this situation. She knew better, period, she knew she was going to give birth, labor is kinda obvious like that. She was down the street from the hospital, could have called 911, heck even called the front desk of the hotel for help. Here in NY State we even have a safe haven law, bring a newborn baby safely to a hospital, hand it over and walk away, no questions asked.
Now she says the baby was born alive but there are no explanations for it's fractured skull other than her lame excuse that it happened when trying to pull the baby from the birth canal. BULL **** !!!!! I won't delve further into why this story makes me so sick, i'm sure you all know me well enough to know why.
But i want to comment on her "sentence" for this atrocious act. WWNY reported last night she will be returning to Michigan to finish a bachelor's degree before her jail sentance. Part of her plea deal is 1 year in jail (of which her lawyer stated she will only serve 8 months, how he knows that i dont' know) and 5 years probation.
How lovely for her, get a college degree, spend a year or less in jail and move on as if nothing ever happened. You KILLED your newborn baby. I hate plea deals in cases like this, i feel fairly confident the district attorney would have won her case and maybe just maybe the sentance would have been more just, why did she decide at the last minute to plead guilty, cause she knew she'd end up with a lighter sentance.

Mama
It's the sweetest most wonderful way to wake up in the morning. Several times in the last few weeks I have awoken to a little voice on the baby monitor calling "mama" "maaaamaaaaa" "mama" So cute and it just makes your heart melt to think for the longest time i didn't think i'd ever get this wonderful pleasure. Thank you God for my beautiful daughter :-)

Frustration
I love staying home with Faith, I really do. But sometimes i get restless and irritated and moody, i think because of being mostly at home (more so lately because of gas prices) is really the hard part, you get "cabin fever" all year long, not just in the winter. And when i'm already in a "mood" and then John is in one too, it's not good :( Good thing tomorrow is the weekend, hopefully we can get out and do something as a family, that would be nice.

6 quirky things about me:
1. I get very excited saving money on groceries. I love to look at the bottom of the receipt where it says "you saved XX", i get all excited to figure out how much i'm paying for things individually too.
2. I have to have a pillow to snuggle up with at night, it has nothing to do with sleeping alone 5 nights a week cause even when John is home I don't like to snuggle up to him, in fact he's so hot and sweaty i try to stay far away.
3. I love to cook, but i don't really like using recipes (except for baking), i love to just wing it. I've come up with some really good things, some really "interesting" things too.
4. As a child I had several stuffed animals, my three favorites were (in no particular order), Potsy, Fred and Smokey. I still have them all :-)
5. I absolutely loved being pregnant and miss it terribly. Yes at the time the end came close i was getting uncomfortable but I really miss that bond you have with baby while in utero that noone else can really share, it's just the two of you, i miss rubbing my baby belly and talking with Faith. Don't get me wrong i'm thrilled to have her in the world talking, and growing and learning, but i miss being pregnant and if I ever am lucky enough to be pregnant again i will try my hardest to savour every moment and not wish the time away.
6. I have a personality that a lot of people just don't like. I'm frank, honest and speak my mind. I've lost many "friends" because of it. The way i look at it is that i'm not a very good friend if i'm not honest, if i don't share and if i can't speak my mind. I find that i'm not the first person people call to hang out with, go places with, or invite over, and that's okay I tend to keep to myself a lot anyway, but at the same time sometimes it hurts to feel like you aren't the "popular one".
Okay now i tag -
Tracey
Gabby
Sherry
Hilary
Julie
Well I guess i only tag 5, cause Diana already did it and i'm out of people to tag LOL See no friends....
